In this HCI Podcast episode, Dr. Jonathan H. Westover talks with Blaine McKee & Hollis Scarborough about how to know your collaborations work. See the video here: https://youtu.be/ggjWnDgGpf8.
Blaine McKee and Hollis Scarborough are best friends and founders of Hullabaloo Book Company. Over 25 years of friendship, they embarked upon varied and sometimes eclectic career paths leading to their most demanding job title: Mom. Blaine has four kids with her now-retired navy husband in Texas and Hollis has two with her husband based in New York City. After years of sending books to each other's children and avid readers themselves, they were frustrated that there wasn't an easy way to send a beautiful, personalized book gift through the mail. In the fall of 2019, they decided to put their combined skill sets to use and launched hullabaloobookco.com. What started as a little bookshop has now grown to include Club Hullabaloo, a popular book and activity subscription service, and Hullabaloo for Business, a corporate gifting and employee benefits division. Hullabaloo's mission, to help raise a smarter, kinder, more culturally aware generation of children through enriching, quality products, has translated seamlessly to helping decision makers strengthen and celebrate their corporate community through custom gifting initiatives and digital programming. They've since worked with multiple companies on Fortune's Top 100 Companies to Work For list with employees responding with messages like, "This benefit made me feel so very proud of my workplace as it shows how much they care about their associates. I especially loved that they thought not just about me as an employee but also considered my child." Hullabaloo will be exhibiting at this summer's SHRM conference. With a 96% employee satisfaction rate and an ever-growing list of collaborations on the books, they're excited to make new connections, growing their network of compassionate and forward-thinking company leaders.
